Partnership with SEWA for training women for financial and digital literacy

SEWA (Self Employed Women’s Association) meaning “service” in several Indian languages, is a globally renowned NGO that has about 600,000 poor women associated with it. SEWA's main goals are to mainstream marginalized poor women workers in the informal sector for full self-employment and self-reliance. Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation is pleased to announce a partnership with SEWA for training women for financial and digital literacy. The focus of this training is to teach the members of the SEWA group concepts and usage of digital banking, digital payment, e-Commerce, online digital transactions, etc. through mobile phones and introduce basic concepts of savings & expenses to help them get out of poverty. The training will assess all trainees on their digital skills from time to time and ensure that all women actually start using digital fintech. The hand holding will continue till they are confident and get to a point where they use digital fintech in their daily usage. While struggling to balance the running of the household and daily business activities, switching over to digital commerce can save them a few precious hours every week that can be utilized to make a remarkable difference in their daily income. Dr. K. R. Shroff Foundation and SEWA will jointly monitor the progress and the outcome of the training to ensure that the training makes a practical difference in the daily lives of the women trainees.
